Romantic Bedroom Decor

There’s lots of things you can do to make a bedroom more romantic, the right colors, textures and most importantly a well dressed bed can make all the difference. It all depends on your personal style and tastes but a romantic bedroom typically is a luxurious one, there isn’t much romantic about the minamalist look.

Fabrics such as satin and velvet, colors that evoke the feeling of romance such as pinks, warm, rich tones, reds, purples. You don’t have to decorate an entire room in any of these colors, but having accents of them around the bedroom will create a warm romantic feel, same with the fabrics.

Choosing A Color Scheme

First off, what’s your favorite color? What color is your bedroom currently? Do those colors make you feel warm and fuzzy inside, or do they evoke other emotions?

There’s no point in using a color that you hate in order to make a bedroom more romantic, so these are guide colors that come in lots of shades that can be played around with. What conjures up the idea of romance in your mind? A tropical beach with white sands and the bluest of waters, or maybe a log cabin with a roaring fire? It’s all about personal preference.

Colors such as pinks, reds and purples are typically romantic. But you may favor more rustic colors, such as oranges or yellows, or maybe cooler colors such as blue or green. Something to remember when decorating a bedroom is to use a color that will aid sleep, not disrupt it. If a certain color makes you feel a certain way, take note, only use colors that you have a postive calm reaction to. Everyone reacts to colors differently, check out the color chart below and see what color you are drawn to, does it make you think of romance? If so use it, if not, move onto another color.

If you do want to change the color scheme of your bedroom, maybe consider using a solid color as a feature wall behind the bed, this works especially well if it’s a bold color with the rest of the room being more neutral.

Romantic Fabrics

Typically Satin and velvet are romantic fabrics, but the way in which you use fabrics can also create a romantic look. The Morroccan style fabric ceiling is a great example, it softens a room and makes it cosy, it’s definitely to be considered romantic.

Another great use of fabric is above the bed. If you aren’t lucky enough to have a four poster bed (possibly the ultimate in romantic bedroom furniture), this is a great way to create a similar effect. A bed canopy is an effective way of doing this.

Both of these ideas soften the look and feel of a bedroom, a romantic bedroom should be cosy and inviting.

Wall Sticker Quotes

If you’re feeling really romantic, consider going for a wall sticker quote. These are really simple to use and can be repositioned or removed whenever you like.

Having a romantic quote on the wall behind a bed or facing a bed is a lovely idea. Even if you cange nothing else about the room, one of those quotes is sure to add some romance!

Maybe consider getting a photo on canvas made from a special photograph that holds special memories. You could team the two together so that the romantic quote is above or below the canvas, that would be a romantic touch.

Wall stickers are a really easy way to update existing decor, you simply peel the sticker from the backing, position and stick.

If you don’t like the way it looks you just peel from the wall and reposition it. Easy!

Romantic Bedding

The bed is the single most important piece of furniture in a bedroom and a place where you spend a considerable amount of time. Choosing romantic bedding is a great way to add a bit of romance into a bedroom.

You don’t have to go for satin sheets to give your bed an air of romance, you just need nice, comfortable bedding to snuggle up in. If a bed looks well dressed and inviting, that’s half the battle solved!

Beds look best when they are dressed with a plump comforter and plump pillows. There’s lots of gorgeous bedding to choose from to suit all budgets.

Transforming a bedroom into a romantic space is easy, you just need to make it as inviting and comfortable as possible. If you want to spend time in a room, it’s because it ticks those two boxes.

Romantic Lighting

Low level lighting is always romantic and not to mention, flattering! Using candles is a great way to create a romantic atmosphere in any bedroom.

Making sure that candles are kept well away from any fabrics, especially bed canopies, this is a great way to light a bedroom and create a calm, relaxing feeling that is especially romantic.

So that’s the romantic bedroom decorating ideas. Consider color, fabrics, romantic wall decor, making your bed inviting and soft romantic lighting. You’ll have a transofrmed bedroom in no time at all.

Bright bedroom decorating ideas?

Question by Chesterkat: Bright bedroom decorating ideas?
I’m moving into my new apartment and my little bedroom is a light pastel yellow with a hardwood floor. The sun shines right into it and it’s nice and bright. I love daisies and bees and anything spring-like, but I have no clue where to begin when I decorate it. Does anyone have any fun ideas (what kind of bed, bedding, dresser, drapes, pictures on the wall etc.) Thank you!

Sounds like you have the beginnings of a great room. Since it’s small and you want to keep it light, go with sheer white fabric on the windows and yellow and white bedding. If you want another color, pink or peach and yellow are cheerful together and a lavendar or light blue would work too, Your first step is to find the comforter you love and take your inspiration from it:

Bedroom Decorating Ideas For Kid’s Rooms

Bedroom Decorating Ideas For Kid’s Rooms

Reflect for a moment back to your childhood. Did you love your bedroom, or was it a parent’s version of their bedroom decorating ideas. If you loved the room you grew up in, there is a strong likelihood that you were a participant in the bedroom decorating planning process at some level.

This continues to be the best way to create the space in a home where a child can develop their own personality. Involving the kids in the bedroom decorating department goes way beyond just giving them a bit of personal indulgence, it also. . .

Encourages discussion between parent and child.

It gives them a sense of “ownership” and just might help motivate them to keep things a bit neater.

This opens the door to a “teachable moment”. Your child can begin to learn about budgeting, decision making, cooperation and the steps it takes to complete a long term goal.

And, if you are having trouble connecting with your teen, opening up to the idea of allowing them to decorate their room could be a powerful way to establish an entirely new way of relating and getting to know this adolescent “mystery” that is living under your roof.

So, how do we get our kids to open up to expressing their bedroom decorating ideas?

Well, for little ones, an excellent way is to first, provide a brand new box of crayons and fresh clean paper. Tell them to create their favorite space on paper.

Explain that you want them to draw their “dream room”, including everything they would want in it no matter how crazy or fantastical it may seem.

There will be no shortage of ideas for your teen once you allow that creative dam to express itself…frankly, they are never short of ideas and opinions at this age.

The goal with them may be to just to keep things focused. To do that, how about a creating a short questionnaire. With questions written in personal format that may include:

What would you like to change in your room right now? What do you like about your room? What do you not like?

What are your favorite colors? If there were no limitations, what would you put in that space called the “bedroom”.

A twist on this to get a resistant teen to participate in exposing their bedroom decorating ideas is to have both you and your child fill out the questions. When finished, compare notes to see just how well you know your son or daughter. This will definitely open the door to some sort of interaction!

Once you have discovered what your child’s ideal bedroom decorating ideas are, be prepared to take things to the next step.

What can you realistically implement considering, time, budget, and room size. What can be traded, sold or reworked to fit into this new look. How willing are you to allow them to paint walls, introduce some crazy decor (especially with teens).

If the ideas are cool, but the finances are just a bit too tight. You can work together to. . .

Create a wish list – with the commitment of buying things as they have been budgeted.

Decide together to determine what are the best choices out of the many. It could just be a simple paint job, moving furniture, or a window treatment change would be satisfactory.

What ever your determining factors are – A room “just for me” is a room designed to encourage, inspire, provide safety and certainly feelings of love and acceptance.

If you don’t like the results…well, you can always close the door!

Bedroom Decorating Ideas Can Be Simple Or Elaborate

Bedroom Decorating Ideas Can Be Simple Or Elaborate

For bedroom decorating ideas, there is a very large number of different themes from which you can choose. Naturally, your decision for bedroom decorating will be based not only on your personal taste, but will also have to do with the budget you have available.

Beyond that, when you’re decorating a bedroom, you also need to think about the amount of space the bedroom permits you. This will help to decide the type and amount of furniture and other items that you will be able to use without making the space too cramped or uncomfortable. Remember, a bedroom should be a calm and inviting space, not an obstacle course!

Therefore, your first step in decorating bedroom is to measure your space, and then come up with the theme or style that you like the best. Among the more popular decorating bedroom ideas are:

* Modern
* Mediterranean
* Cottage
* Southwestern
* Victorian

With your style chosen, you can look into bedroom decorating tips that will allow you to reach that final image. For example, if you were thinking of bedroom decorating ideas that are Victorian, you may consider the following tips:

* The Victorian style has a rather feminine feel about it, so bedroom decorating in this style will primarily be enjoyed by women. If you are considering making the master bedroom a Victorian style room, you will want to make sure that your spouse or partner shares this particular taste.

* Decorating a bedroom in this style is quite showy and dramatic. The bed will typically consist of a heavy four-poster of wood or cast iron. It may have a canopy, curtains, throw pillows and blankets, and a bedspread that is well embellished with patterns, fringe, bows, and ribbons.

* Decorating bedroom styles such as Victorian will also include a great deal of accessorizing, such as with enormous, overstated rugs, flowering plants, and ornate gold frames surrounding paintings of flowers, birds, children, or maidens.

No matter the bedroom decorating ideas you use, as long as you remain focused and follow through, you’re certain to enjoy the final achievement.

Shabby Cheap Bedroom Decorating Ideas

Shabby Cheap Bedroom Decorating Ideas

While I love the look of the Shabby Chic bedroom furniture and accessories, my bank account just doesn’t quite agree with me. Plus, I’ve never been interested in decorating my home so it looks exactly like a magazine. I want my home to be unique, not look like every other home across America. So with one eye toward Shabby-ness and the other on my wallet, I came up with some shabby cheap bedroom decorating ideas of my own.

Bed Linens – If you’re familiar with the Shabby linens then you’ll know that they include a lot of soft, pastel colors: rosy pinks and sky blues and minty greens and buttery yellows. And the patterns are generally delicate floral patterns mixed with some stripes here and there. There are usually several patterns and stripes combined to give you that old-fashioned patchwork effect. You’ve probably also noticed that they’re very expensive.

Scout thrift stores and discount linen warehouses for patchwork quilts and bed skirts. There’s nothing that says your bedspread, bed skirt, sheets and pillow cases all have to come in the same bag and be made of the same matching fabric. That’s the fun of shabby cheap decorating. I’ve picked up a bedspread, two quilts, a bed skirt plus sheets and pillow cases for less than half the price of one Shabby Chic bedspread and my bed looks like it was put together by a designer.

Furnishings – This is the fun part. One of my favorite bedroom decorating ideas is chairs. Yes, chairs. Not upholstered chairs but wooden, ladder-back chairs from old dining room sets. I love picking up mismatched chairs and using them to decorate all through my house. Sometimes I’ll give them a fresh coat of paint, but usually I just leave them shabby. And since I already know you think I’m crazy, let me tell you how I use them:

- At the top of the stairs – I have a little pale green desk chair at the top of the stairs that holds a small lamp that’s used as a night light, accented with an old milk can full of roses by its side.

- In the bedroom – I have three chairs in the bedroom. One I use as a nightstand with a small lamp and my alarm clock, and the other I mounted to the wall and it has a pretty pink vase with an arrangement of silk peonies and a little china bowl for buttons and pins and such. The third holds a stack of colorful quilts I’ve picked up along the way and it just adds a splash of color to an otherwise boring corner of the room.

You can find amazing, unique furniture pieces at thrift stores. And since you’re looking for something that says shabby, you don’t have to look at the most expensive, newer pieces. In fact, the cheaper, older, and shabbier, the better.

When you’re looking for shabby cheap bedroom decorating ideas you can save a lot of money if you just think outside the box. That thrift-shop dresser might be the wrong color, but if it’s shabby already you’re half-way there. Pick it up for instead of 0 or 0, and take it home and throw a coat of paint on it. Even your paint job doesn’t have to be perfect – we’re talking shabby here, remember?

Some cheap bedroom decorating ideas are all you need to give it a total facelift. If you want more decorating ideas then just click here.
